Sing a Song of Sixpence
Sing a Song of Sixpence
This ancient nursery rhyme is full of bizarre and wonderful images. A King and a Queen are busy with activities befitting their titles (counting money and eating honey) whilst an unfortunate maid is rather savagely attacked by a blackbird whilst hanging out the laundry in the garden. Perhaps the bird didn't take kindly to having been baked in a pie earlier in the rhyme! This can be taught with simple gestures or as a little role play.
