The City Mouse and The Garden Mouse

The City Mouse and The Garden Mouse

The text of this song is a poem written by the Victorian poet, Christina Rossetti and compares the life of the city to that of the country mouse. Where do they live? What do they see? And most importantly, what do they eat? It's clear that the country mouse has an easier time of it so we feel sorry for the city mouse: “poor, little, timid fury man.” Such a sweet ending! The classroom will no doubt be filled with mischievous, scurrying little mice during this song.
